Slow Going

So, about two or so months ago I got very excited about a new project. I had decided to make a short film and instantly came up with the concept and put together a storyboard with all the various shots I had in mind. All was going well. Since then my mind strayed onto other things (check out the other blogs to see my many distractions) and I have made very little progress. My main issue has been that I had a lead actor in mind who has been totally unavailble to the point of being aloof. I have, at least, now presented him with the idea and he seems to be on board – I’m sure I could have found someone else but I can see him in it and it also makes a great excuse so that I can feel better about my own lethargy! ;)

I hope now that ground work has been laid that I might be able to press on a bit, but the storyboard and the teaser trailer I posted a while back are still the only actual results of this process.

As more time seems to go by and I produce less and less j start to doubt whether any of it will A.) get done at all or B.) be worth anything even if it does finally get done…. I guess the answer is that if I do A, B will necessarily be a yes, that would be the glass half full outlook, so I’m gonna go with that.

Amongst the things that have distracted me is the ‘beer bottle diffuser’ I came up with on my holiday to Scotland a while back. I am toying with turning this to good use though and maybe trying to incorporate the ‘bbf’ into my short film… It will be interesting to see if the abstract effect translates to moving pictures.

As I write this I’m on a plane to Budapest, although this could be an opportunity for some great photography or more inspirational experiences it will almost certainly be another dreary, work heavy, saccarine affair. I can’t seem to translate my work related travel into anything that contributes toward my creative works. This is possibly due to my state of mind when in work mode – I need to get more motivated! I have a plethora of excuses though, mainly based around the bulky nature of my photographic kit, it’s a poor excuse I know…
